Alter Ego is the new home couture collection by Mrs.Me. Four new settings Jean, Amelia, Sherilyn and Ava are based on adventurous and progressive women: Jean Shrimpton, Amelia Earhart, Sherilyn Fenn and Ava Gardner.

In this collection, designer Lianne Ernst once again effortlessly combines influences from the international fashion world with rich materials in extraordinary applications, displaying her affection for handcraft and craftsmanship.

From September 2011, the four new settings of the Alter Ego collection will be available in the shop.
In January 2012, this collection will be extended with 8 more settings.

Cotton percale vs. Cotton satin

Mrs.Me's bed linens are produced from the superior and long staple Egyptian cotton, which grows exclusively on the banks of the Nile.

Mrs.Me uses a 500 thread count Egyptian cotton.
Because of the weave and fineness of this fabric it is called "cotton percale". Percale is a closely woven plain-weave fabric, firm and smooth yet without a gloss, which washes very well. Percale fabric is cool and crisp and has a real feel of rustling sheets.

Mrs.Me also uses a 300 thread count Egyptian cotton satin.
Satin has a sheen and soft feel through the use of a different structure in the weaving process. The satin structure places the most threads on the surface, making it extremely soft.
Satin is a weave that typically has a more glossy and smooth surface and therefor this fabric is very easy to iron.

Thread count measures the fineness of fabric.
It is measured by counting the number of threads per square inch of fabric, including both the length threads; "the warp", and width threads; "the weft".
Using finer threads allow more threads to fit in a square inch, resulting in a lighter, stronger and softer fabric.

Thread count is often used as a measure of fabric quality for bed linens. Standard cotton thread counts are around 150 while good-quality sheets start at 180. A fabric count of 200 or higher is considered percale.

The November issue of the "Meubel Vakweekblad" ("Trade Weekly Magazine") featured an article on the exhibition presentation by Mrs.Me and TREcompany. A quote from the article:
At a fair, a stand amongst suppliers of equal products is not the best option, however, a cross-branch cooperation, for example between bedsteads and bedding does pay dividend.
This is the conclusion of Ward van Zandvoort, owner of bedstead company TREcompany, after a joint participation from his company and bedding supplier Mrs.Me for the Furniture Fair Brussels.
TREcompany is a bedstead manufacturer that started up in 2009 with beds and bedroom furniture. Mrs.Me is a supplier of 'home couture', as the company describes itself.
The two companies jointly participated at the Furniture Fair in Brussels at the beginning of this month. One with bedsteads, the other with bed- and home textiles.

In Brussels, Mrs.Me introduced the textile series 'Metropolitan II', a series based on imaginary world cities. The series is demure, but with colour accents in the cushions and plaids.
Mrs.Me founder and head designer Lianne Ernst explains; “We choose plain colours as we want our products to last. They are of the highest quality Egyptian cotton, but you don’t want to get tired of the look after one season.”
TREcompany introduced their latest model 'Twice XL' at the fair. The bed is based upon the existing 'Twice' model, with as significant difference that this model is with higher bedsides and a higher headboard. In addition, it can be combined with extra high nightstands.
Van Zandvoort: “With this model, we hope to appeal to that group of customers who prefer to lie on a raised yet beautifully crafted bed."

Holly Becker visited Hotel Arena Amsterdam last August.
She wrote about her stay on Decor8.
"I loved the clean design of the room, the soaring ceilings and old windows, wood floors, and the beyond lovely gold shimmery bedding and pillows from Mrs.Me.
I have to buy some Mrs. Me bedding for my new bedroom — I kept thinking that while I was at this hotel as I loved it so much. The combination of gold on the bed and gray curtains was such a great combination because it added warmth to the room at night. Between the lighting and bedding, the room became very warm and the walls appeared to be a creamy white at night but by day, the white walls looked very crisp white due to the natural lighting combined with the gray drapes and white furniture which cooled the room down."

Miljonair Competition

At the end of this year, 'Miljonair Magazine' celebrates it's 10th anniversary.
This celebrational anniversary issue will see a spectacular launch at the Miljonair Fair in December.
The publication will feature a price-draw with 10 huge prices. Especially for it's readers, Mrs.Me offers a bed-spread from the Casablanca collection.

This taupe coloured bed-spread is made from quilted micro-fibre, stitched through in big squares, lined with pure scheeps-wool and measures at 140x280 cm.

The Miljonair anniversary issue can be found in shops around December 9th.
